Smartwings to launch a new regular service from Prague to Izmir, Turkey, at the end of May

Airline company Smartwings is expanding its range of destinations for the 2024 summer season and introduces its fifth new offering this year. The airline is launching regular flights between Prague and Izmir, Turkey, on 30 May 2024. A direct service to Turkey’s third largest city located on the Aegean coast will be available to passengers twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. Smartwings will offer direct flights from Czech airports to a total of 74 destinations under the summer schedule.
The flight QS1198 will depart from Vaclav Havel Airport Prague at 19:00 with arrival in Izmir at 22:35 local time. The return flight QS1199 from Izmir to Prague is scheduled to depart at 23:25 local time and arrive at Vaclav Havel Airport at 01:10 after midnight the following day. The route will be served by a Boeing 737 aircraft with a capacity of 189 seats.
The largest Czech air carrier will continue increasing its passenger capacity mainly to holiday destinations and introducing new routes in the coming period. Smartwings’ summer flight schedule will offer new scheduled flights to 5 additional destinations:
- Ponta Delgada (Azores Islands, from April 15, two direct flights per week from Prague)
- Izmir (Turkey, from May 30, twice a week from Prague)
- Athens (Greece, from May 31, twice a week from Prague)
- Brindisi (Italy, from June 3, twice a week from Prague)
- La Palma (fifth largest island of the Canary archipelago, from June 4, once a week from Prague)
Due to a high demand for Smartwings flights, the capacity will increase by 16% compared to last summer season.
Smartwings Group will dispatch flights not only from airports in the Czech Republic, but also from Poland, Slovakia, Portugal, Germany, France, the Canary Islands, and Hungary. Smartwings plans to deploy a fleet of 58 aircraft to cover the upcoming busy summer season.
