Smartwings Group to resume flights to the Mediterranean, introduce regular flights to London Heathrow
Airline companies Smartwings and Czech Airlines, members of Smartwings Group, are planning to resume further flights in June and July. Czech Airlines will launch a new daily flight from Prague to London’s biggest airport, Heathrow, as of June 25.
As of June 10, Smartwings will offer flights to Split, Croatia. The company will operate up to 3 flights per week on this route. As of July, Smartwings is planning to resume flight to 12 Greek destinations – including Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Zakynthos, Corfu, Lefkada (Preveza), Samos, Santorini, Kefalonia, Karpathos, Thessaloniki, and Kavala. Flights to Mallorca, Canary Islands, Cyprus (Larnaca), Madeira (Funchal) and to Bulgaria (Burgas and Varna) may resume in July as well. Smartwings is planning to operate flights to the Mediterranean destinations not only from Prague but also from regional airports.
Resumption of operations is conditional on lifting of travel restrictions imposed by the respective countries.
Czech Airlines is planning to resume flights to Košice, Slovakia (3x per week) as of June 15, to Budapest, Hungary (3x per week) as of June 16, and to Iceland (Keflavik, twice a week) as of June 17. Last week, CSA resumed flights from Prague to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, Stockholm, and Bucharest.
Smartwings Group is planning to resume flights to other destinations as soon as the situation allows.
The company has adopted on-board measures to make air travel safe during the coronavirus pandemic. These measures include the obligation for passengers to board aircraft with the mouth and nose covered with a suitable protection (a face mask) and keep it on throughout the flight, social distancing (keep two meters away from other passengers when boarding and unboarding), and contactless payments for in-flight purchases. Stringent hygienic regulations apply on board of Smartwings Group aircraft.
