Smartwings and Eurowings starting codeshare cooperation
Smartwings and German airline Eurowings of Lufthansa Group started the first phase of codeshare cooperation.
Beginning today March 21st Smartwings places its code on Eurowings flights between Prague and 16 destinations: Cologne, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Bristol, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Athens, Larnaca, Heraklion, Malaga, Alicante, Stockholm, Faro, Rome, and Mallorca. Thanks to this cooperation, Smartwings customers will be able to enjoy more direct connections to a wide range of destinations across Europe.
Both companies informed about the agreement at the beginning of November 2021. Smartwings offers selected Eurowings connections from Prague under its flight numbers. Tickets can be purchased on smartwings.com and through other sales channels. In a next step of the partnership, it is planned that Eurowings will place its code also on Smartwings operated flights.
“We are pleased to announce the start of cooperation with our partner Smartwings which strengthens our position in the Prague base. This cooperation allows us to offer customers more and easier travel options. The launch of our partnership comes at exactly the right time. After two years of being locked up at home, the desire to travel is stronger than ever before. We are currently seeing a surge in bookings, not only in the Czech Republic, but across our entire route network,” said Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof.
“We are pleased that in cooperation with Eurowings we can expand our network to Eurowings operated flights, and we are able to offer convenient connections to a wide portfolio of destinations,” Smartwings CEO Roman Vik said.
Smartwings’ summer schedule offers regular flights from Prague to 51 destinations. The newest being connection to Santorini. Smartwings’ regular and charter flights under the summer schedule will also be operated from Czech regional airports – Brno, Ostrava, Pardubice, and Karlovy Vary.
