Smartwings introduces business class on scheduled flights to Tenerife and Gran Canaria

Smartwings, the largest Czech airline, is expanding its service offering by introducing business class on scheduled flights to the Canary Islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The new class is available to passengers as of today (November 28) on flights to Tenerife and two days later, on November 30, on flights to Gran Canaria. Smartwings offers five flights a week between Prague and Tenerife and two flights a week between Prague and Gran Canaria during the winter season.

The flights will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which offers a business class section with 18 comfortable reclining seats in a 2+2 configuration. The rest of the board layout includes 150 economy seats with three seats on each side of the aisle as a standard.

“Our goal is to offer our clients premium services and perfect comfort throughout the flight on board our aircraft. Business class passengers can look forward to comfortable wide armchairs, excellent catering and great service,” says Michal Váňa, Sales Director of Smartwings.

Smartwings’ business class service includes a separate check-in counter, priority passage to security (fast track), access to airport lounges (Erste Premier Lounge in Prague, Montaña Roja VIP Lounge in Tenerife and Galdos VIP Lounge in Las Palmas), a higher baggage allowance (two checked bags, each weighing up to 32 kg, two carry-on bags, each weighing up to 8 kg, and personal bags weighing up to 3 kg), refreshments in the form of a hot menu with a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.
An in-flight entertainment portal with more than 100 hours of premium content is available to all passengers on board for free.

Smartwings offers direct flights from Czech airports to more than twenty destinations under the winter schedule. From Prague, Smartwings operates scheduled flights to Dubai, four Canary Islands: Tenerife (5 times a week), Gran Canaria (twice a week), Lanzarote (once a week) and Fuerteventura (twice a week), Malaga, Spain (daily), Madrid, Valencia (four times a week), Mallorca (four times a week), Paris (twice a day), Tel Aviv (daily), Madeira (four times a week) and the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada (three times a week) and Marsa Alam (three times a week) and Antalya, Turkey (twice a week). Smartwings operates scheduled flights to Egypt (Hurghada, Marsa Alam) from Brno and Ostrava. During the winter period, Smartwings dispatches charter flights for travel agencies from Prague to Bahrain, Oman (Salalah), UAE (Ras Al Khaimah), Kenya, Cape Verde Islands, Zanzibar and traditionally to the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Marsa Alam.

Over the first 9 months of this year (January 1 – September 30, 2024), Smartwings Group carried 5.7 million passengers (+20% increase) and operated almost 36,000 flights. Smartwings Group operates flights not only from airports in the Czech Republic, but also from Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.
