Smartwings carried 4.6 million passengers over nine months, up 120% year-on-year

Smartwings has carried almost 4.6 million passengers on its flights in the first nine months of this year, 2.5 million more than in the same period last year. This represents a 120% year-on-year increase. From January to September, the company operated over 29,000 flights (+92%). Besides the Czech Republic, Smartwings also operated flights from another 8 hubs in 7 countries.
The largest number of passengers, over 2.7 million (year-on-year increase of 109.4%), flew with Smartwings from/to the Czech Republic between January and September. During the summer season, the company offered flights to 70 destinations from five Czech airports (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Pardubice, and Karlovy Vary).
During the busiest summer months (June-August), almost 3 million passengers (+100.6%) used Smartwings services and the company reached 97% of its 2019 pre-covid level. The busiest summer month was July, when Smartwings carried over 1.1 million passengers on 6,500 flights. August, too, saw the number of passengers exceed the 1 million mark. Occupancy on scheduled routes reached 95% in the main summer months.
Smartwings also recorded significant growth in the number of passengers in September. The company operated 5,111 flights carrying 750,000 passengers. Up 76.2% year-on-year. In September, 461 thousand passengers (+ 72%) flew to/from the Czech Republic with Smartwings.
Smartwings prepared for summer well in advance and made every effort to be sufficiently staffed and operationally ready for the season. Despite extremely high demand during the summer season, it was one of the few airlines that did not have to cancel any flights.
Under the winter flight schedule, Smartwings will operate scheduled flights from Prague to Dubai, Málaga, Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Marsa Alam, Madeira, Antalya, and Tel Aviv. Charter flights will be dispatched to Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, Oman, the UAE, and Egypt.
In winter, Smartwings will also operate scheduled and charter flights from its international hubs: Bratislava (UAE, Oman, Cape Verde, Senegal, Zanzibar, Egypt), Warsaw and Katowice (Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Egypt, Madeira, Oman, Kenya, Turkey), Budapest (UAE, Canary Islands, Egypt, Zanzibar), Paris (Canary Islands, Madeira, Finland, Jersey), and Canary Islands (Porto, Cape Verde, Jersey).
