Smartwings aircraft carried 8.3 million passengers last year

Last year, Smartwings airline carried more than 6.5 million passengers on scheduled and charter flights, a 20.1% increase over the previous year. The number of Smartwings’ passengers exceeded the pre-pandemic level of 2019 by 16.3%. The company carried another 1.85 million passengers on board its aircraft on behalf of other carriers. In total, 8.3 million passengers used the services of the Smartwings airline group last year. The total number of flights operated by Smartwings Group in 2024 increased to 53,338 (up 11%). Smartwings planes landed at 318 airports around the world last year.

Smartwings saw the largest year-on-year increase in the number of passengers in the Czech Republic. The airline flew 4.3 million passengers from Czech airports, up 18.2% year-on-year. The airline offered flights from 6 airports across the Czech Republic (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Pardubice, and Karlovy Vary) to 70 destinations. In addition, Smartwings operated flights from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. The busiest months last year were the summer months of July and August, when Smartwings monthly carried approximately 1.3 million passengers. The average flight occupancy rate reached 86,11%.

Last year, Smartwings passed another IOSA operational safety audit by IATA, an international air carrier association. A valid IOSA registration is considered proof of reliability and high level of safety of the air carrier.

The largest Czech air carrier was also successful in tenders for the leasing of its aircraft with crews (ACMI contracts) with foreign airlines (Eurowings, Sunwing, Air Transat, Binter, Spice jet, flydubai, Transavia, Israir).

This year, Smartwings Group expects another strong summer season and a further increase in the number of passengers. Its existing fleet of 46 aircraft is expected to grow by another 6 new aircraft in 2025.

Under the current winter schedule, Smartwings offers direct flights from Czech airports to more than twenty destinations. Scheduled flights include Dubai, the four Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura), Madeira, Mallorca, Málaga, Madrid, Valencia, Paris, Tel Aviv, the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Marsa Alam, and Antalya in Turkey. Smartwings charter flights for travel agencies depart from Prague to Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Cape Verde, Zanzibar, and Egypt in the winter season.
